HTTP Status & Redirect Chain Checker

Follow every redirect hop of any URL and flag long chains.

What is a redirect chain?
When one URL redirects to another, which redirects to another. Every hop adds latency and dilutes link equity. Aim for zero or one redirect — anything beyond three is an SEO smell.
What's the difference between 301 and 302?
301 is permanent — search engines transfer ranking signals to the new URL. 302 is temporary — signals stay with the original. Use 301 for site moves, 302 only for true temporary redirects.
Why does my URL show multiple hops when I don't have redirects?
Common causes: HTTP-to-HTTPS (1 hop), www-to-non-www or vice versa (1 hop), trailing-slash normalisation (1 hop). Each is legitimate but they stack up fast.
Is my URL sent to anyone?
We fetch the URL from our server to follow redirects, then discard the response. We don't store, log, or share the URL.
